Dear Contestants,

It is important that you know that this is neither a beauty contest nor a talent competition. The Lions Club of Poway is sponsoring this event for the purpose of supporting young women in our community. We are looking for young ladies between the ages of 13 and 24 with poise, a charming personality and true willingness to serve their community. For the next year, the winners will serve as goodwill ambassadors for the City of Poway, volunteering at a variety of civic and charitable events in Poway as well as the greater San Diego region. Being a contestant is a great opportunity for female students to improve their public speaking skills and make new friends, boost their self-esteem, and enhance their personal growth. As a member of the Miss Poway Court you will gain experience and confidence in conducting yourself in public social situations, and you will earn community service hours. It is a journey with many rewards, and it is with much enthusiasm that I invite you to participate in this year's Miss Poway and Miss Teen Poway Scholarship Pageant!
